Fighting Loneliness

Updated: Aug 9, 2022

Have you ever experienced loneliness in your life? If you are a human reading this, I am sure that the answer is yes. It is something that we all experience in one way or another.

Loneliness, whether it be for a short or a long period of time, is never an uplifting feeling. It can lead to the development of health issues such as depression, increased blood pressure, higher cholesterol, and can even increase the chances of dementia. (source). A study conducted in 2021 reported that “36% of all Americans—including 61% of young adults and 51% of mothers with young children—feel “serious loneliness”” (source).

Despite the above statistics, it is often said that the world is the most “connected” it has ever been because of technology. We have the ability to FaceTime someone from all the way across the world or to have internet friends that we have never even met in person. While this is unbelievably amazing, it does not automatically produce genuine, relational connection. Though we can “connect” with one another with an ocean in between us, it is my opinion and observation that we have never been more disconnected. You see, connectedness is not measured by the expansiveness of technology. Rather, to be connected is to be fully known and fully loved by another.

Bluebird desires for each of you to experience this connectedness.

We were designed to live in community with one another. Eve was created for Adam, they needed each other. This still applies to us today, we need each other!

Here at the Bluebird, we want to plug you into a community that fits you and your lifestyle. We believe that loneliness is a true struggle in our society right now and we are doing the best that we can to eliminate this, one life at a time. If you find yourself desiring community, come visit us at the bus!

Come on in, get cozy, sip on a warm cup of coffee, and chat with us! We would love to meet with you. :)
